What a wonderful honor for all Chihuahuas everywhere, to be featured in the popular Red and Rover comic strip! And to think he was born right here in the Pacific Northwest at my house! Read the story below...
Reuben was born on June 20, 2009 to Ch. Gucci and Ch. Breezy. As he matured, he turned into a beautiful dog so I kept him for myself to show. By the time he was a year old, he still only had one testicle and I reluctantly decided to place him in a pet home (he is now neutered). Several people contacted me, but he was one of my favorites with a fantastic personality, so I was very picky about choosing his new home. |
When Michele (a cat person! her first dog!) from Seattle contacted me, I was intrigued. After many emails and phone conversations, I decided that she was the perfect home for Reuben. She flew over to pick him up so he could ride under the seat in first class (no shipping), and after meeting her in person, I knew I had made the right choice.

Several months later Michele asked me if I would mind if Reuben was added to a comic strip called Red and Rover. I had never heard of it, but signed up for the daily strip online and really enjoyed it. I thought it would be wonderful for Reuben to appear! Brian Basset, the artist, met Reuben when Michele first brought him home and saw his potential as a 'new kid on the block' in Red and Rover. Michele also appears in the comic as his owner. |

The comics have been hilarious, especially the one where the spelling of 'Rubin' is corrected to 'Reuben'. I hope you enjoy Reuben's appearances as much as I do! |
